What is an ECG?

No preparation is needed. Avoid applying body lotion on the chest on the day of the test so the patches stick well.

Limitations of an ECG
An ECG is a snapshot of a few seconds. A normal ECG does not rule out heart disease, especially if symptoms come and go. Your doctor may recommend a Holter monitor to record the heart over 24 to 48 hours, a TMT stress test to check the heart during exercise, or a 2D echo to look at the heart’s structure.
